Simple on line photo album showing the development of a small 4mm OO shunting layout. The era modelled is to cover the late 1950's through to the early 1980's, with an emphasis to try to model the scenery and buildings in such a way that they do not give away the year being modelled.

Deepcar 1500V DC Woodhead Route
DC Electrification in OO Gauge. Depicting the erstwhile Woodhead Route - Britain's first electrified mainline - Deepcar is one of only a very few layouts to feature accurate, scale, working overhead electrification and is, to our knowledge, the only one to feature the 1500V dc system. The layout was built by a group of members of the Nottingham (Bulwell) Model Railway Society. All of the overhead electrification system is scratchbuilt and is as close to scale as possible. It is even electrically live, being connected to the common return. Electric locomotives, of Classes 76 and 77, are fitted with working pantographs and can draw their current from the overhead (though most also draw it from the running rails to avoid having to electrify the whole fiddle yard). The layout is built to a scale of 4mm:1ft using 16.5mm gauge track (OO gauge).
